BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Brian Wells is a second-generation Cambodian-American born and raised in the Midwest. His childhood was spent outside of the Cambodian community, moving from one small town to another with minimal exposure to his cultural heritage. It was not until his family settled in the Chicagoland area in 2003 where he was first introduced to the Cambodian Association of Illinois and the National Cambodian Heritage Museum and Killing Fields Memorial.

Brian graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil and Materials Engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of South Florida. He served with Peace Corps Cambodia in Svay Rieng Province; working as a community health volunteer and conducting research on childhood diarrhea. Brian has also worked as an engineer with the Indian Health Service Division of Sanitation Facilities Construction in Spokane, Washington and the Chicago Department of Water Management.

Brian has an interest in creating space for people to come together to learn about and experience Cambodian culture, share histories, and build relationships. Brian also has an intense interest in Cambodian food and is always looking for more opportunities to eat, talk and learn about cooking.
